Pianist Nguyen Huy Phuong

Pianist Nguyen Huy Phuong grew up in a family with a rich artistic tradition. He began studying the piano in 1981. A year later he was admitted to the Hanoi National Conservatory of Music. From 1989 to 2001, he continued his studies in piano performance from intermediate through graduate and post-graduate levels at the Gnessin National Academy of Music in Russia. In 2003, Phuong excellently defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Historical Periods in the Musical Culture of Vietnam: the Interaction between Folk Music and Professional Music" and obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Gnessin Academy.Since 2003 Dr. Huy Phuong has been on the piano faculty at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. He was the recipient of the Excellent Teaching Awards in the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years. In 2009, he was appointed Head of the Department of Vocal Accompaniment and Ensembles at the Academy. Phuong was awarded the "Certificate for The Most Effective Piano Accompaniment" in the 4th National Chamber Vocal Competition by the Vietnam Composers' Society in 2009.Since 1999 Nguyen Huy Phuong, recognized as an energetic and enthusiastic pianist, has been actively undertaking as well as participating in various recitals and concerts with many artists and different ensembles in Vietnam and other countries such as Russia and Japan. As a musicologist, many of his articles on musical arts have been published in magazines and newspapers in Vietnam and abroad.Dr. Nguyen Huy Phuong is currently the Associate Chair of the Keyboard Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music. The 2018 season marks Dr. Phuong's 4th year as a Vietnam Connection Music Festival artist.



피아니스트 Nguyen Huy Phuong은 전통적인 예술적 성향을 지닌 가족적 분위기 안에서 성장하였다. 그는 1981년에 피아노를 시작하였고 몇 년 후, 하노이 국립콘서바토리에 입학하여 본격적인 학문을 쌓았다. 1989년에서 2001년에 걸쳐 러시아로 유학, Gnessin 국립아카데미에서 중·고등부, 학부, 그리고 대학원 레벨까지 학업을 마치었으며 2003년 논문 “Historical Periods in the Musical Culture of Vietnam: the Interaction between Folk Music and Professional Music"을 발표, 큰 호평을 받으며 Ph.D 학위를 받았다.



2003년 이후, 베트남 국립아카데미에서 교수로 재직하기 시작 하였으며 2007-2008, 2008-2009년에 걸쳐 우수한 교수로 선정, 특별상을 수여 받았다. 2009년에는 보컬과 앙상블 학과 학장으로 임명되었고, 같은 해 제4회 베트남 작곡가학회에서 주최한 내셔널쳄버보컬컴피티션에서 "Certificate for The Most Effective Piano Accompaniment" 상을 수여 받았다.



1999년 이후 Nguyen Huy Phuong은 에너지와 열정이 넘치는 피아니스트로 각인 되어 베트남뿐 아니라 러시아, 일본, 그리고 세계 여러 나라에서 수많은 리사이틀과 콘서트를 하고 있으며 세계 유명 연주자들과 앙상블 연주 등 끊임없이 활발한 연주 활동을 하고 있다. 또한 음악학자로서 베트남과 세계 유명 음악잡지와 신문에 음악 예술에 관한 글을 기고하고 있어 전문 음악인들뿐 아니라 일반 대중과도 클래식 음악에 관해 소통을 하고 있다. 올해 2018년은 그에게 있어 뮤직 페스티벌 아티스트로서 한국과 베트남을 연결하는 커다란 수학을 거둔 4번째 해가 되는 뜻깊은 해이다.



Dr. Nguyen Huy Phuong은 현재 베트남 국립 아카데미 피아노과 주임교수로 재직 중이다.
