우리 학회에서는 [아시아 음악의 아름다움]이라는 주제로 학술대회를 개최합니다.
많이 신청을 해 주시고 적극적인 참여를 바랍니다.

음악이란 아는 만큼 들리고 들리는 만큼 즐길 수 있습니다. 음악은 참으로 도도한 존재여서 우리가 가까이 다가가지 않으면 문을 열어 주지 않습니다. 그래서 아시아 음악을 학문적 대상으로 연구하고 있지만, 막상 들어보려고 하면 생경한 느낌이 들어 즐기지는 못하고 있습니다. 이런 어려움을 해소해 보려는 노력으로 아시아 음악 전문가들이 모여 아시아 음악의 가치, 특징, 아름다움 등을 알기 쉽도록 종합적인 이해에 도움을 주는 학술회의를 하려고 합니다.


유럽 음악은 유럽뿐만 아니라 전 세계에서 유통하고 있지만, 아시아 음악은 그 소통 범위가 매우 좁습니다. 뿐만 아니라 21세기의 세계화 시대를 살아가기 위해서는 내 것뿐만 아니라 다른 사람의 것도 이해할 수 있는 안목이 매우 필요한 시점입니다.

학술회의가 끝나면 그 결과를 한글 발표문은 아시아음악학 총서의 하나로 [아시아 음악의 아름다움] 이라는 단행본으로, 영문 논문은 영문학술지 [Asian Musicology]에 수록 예정입니다.

[아시아음악의 아름다움] 외에도 아시아 음악에 관한 발표를 환영합니다.



지금까지 발표를 신청한 학자 및 대상 국가는 내용은 다음과 같습니다. 하나의 나라에 꼭 한 사람씩 발표하는 것은 아니고 각자의 연구 대상이나 관심 사항을 발표하시면 됩니다.

1. 발표자의 경력 사항(프로그램에 넣을 자료) 5-8줄, 원고 요약문은 A4 용지 1-2매로 작성하셔서 4 월 15 일까지 보내주십시오.
2. 발표 문은 A4 용지 15매 이상 작성하셔서 4 월 30 일까지 보내 주시기 바랍니다. 발표 문은 단행본 발행을 위하여 길게 자세히 써 주시기 바랍니다.

Announcement of the seminar on
'The beauty of Asian music'

The Society of Asian Music will host a seminar on a theme of 'The Beauty of Asian Music'. You are most welcome to submit your papers and to take part in the seminar in May of 2006.

There is a saying that "we do understand music as much as we listen to it, and we are able to enjoy it as much as we understand it." Music is indeed a lordly being, and it would not open its meaning unless we come to be close to it. In an attempt to be closer it we are studying musics as an object of an investigation, but, in a case of musics in Asian countries, we are not really able to enjoy them due to their unfamiliarity with sounds and cultures. In this respect, we intend to organize a seminar where music scholars gather to deliver their own specialities within Asian countries, and this will be a good opportunity for people and audience to approach some Asian musics. It focuses on general aspects of Asian music in terms of its features, aesthetics and values. We hope that this seminar will provide audiences for comprehensive ideas and particular interests in Asian music.

European art music has almost been a universal language, whereas Asian music still tends to be limited to a certain audience. We now live in a globalized epoch, and this means that we need to try to understand other cultures' musics as well as our own one.

Articles that are delivered in the seminar will be published in a title of 'The beauty of Asian music' for a single book as a collection of Asian musicology. Individual articles written in English will also be included in the Journal of Asian Musicology. You are also welcome to submit papers other than the theme of Asian music mentioned above. Please send your proposals to peacemusic@hanmail.net.

NOTES

1. Please submit abstracts of your papers (1 or 2 pages with an A4 sized paper) by 15 April.
2. Please submit your completed articles (more than 15 pages with an A4 sized paper) by 30 April. Authors are required to complete their articles in longer versions for the purpose of publishing a separate book later.
3. The seminar has no panels on each paper, and free discussions after finishing the seminar will be available.
4. Papers should be 20 minutes.
