The Arts Council Korea (ARKO) supports and promotes the international exchange of Korean artists and arts and cultural organizations through the open call program of the Culture & Arts Promotion Fund.
International Exchange & Global Expansion
ARKO supports Korean artists for international joint and thematic projects as well as superb artworks for their promotion on the global stage.
ARKO strives to boost the capacity of the Korean arts and raise its international competitiveness by supporting international arts and cultural exchange projects and programs at home and abroad in the private sector, including research, joint and collaborative, and invitation projects by artists in the fields of literature, visual art, and performing arts (dance, theatre, music, and traditional art). ARKO has concluded an agreement with institutions such as Maison des Cultures du Monde and the European Broadcasting Union to develop a platform that is not easily accessible to individual artists in order to offer various international exchange opportunities.
Capacity & Foundation Building
ARKO extends support to Korean artists to enhance their creative and international exchange capabilities and capacity building programs for young artists to actively participate in the international art scene.
ARKO supports artists to participate in an international residency program in the areas of literature, visual art, and performing arts (dance, theatre, music, and traditional art). The designated type of the program takes place in the arts institutions, which have signed an agreement with ARKO across the world, while the non-designated type of the program occurs in an arts institution that artists would contact and consult individually. This program aims to build Korean artists’ creative capabilities and expand the network for Korean artists to be actively engaged in international exchange.
