The Korean Pavilion is the 26th National Pavilion built when it was built in 1995, but there are 30 buildings in 29 countries as of 2016 due to the separation of the Czech Republic-Slovakian Pavilion.
The only Asian view is the Korean view and the Japanese view.
After Paik Nam-june won the Golden Lion for his participation as a German writer in 1993, architect Kim Seok-cheol and artist Paik Nam-june built the museum through efforts to show the feasibility of building a Korean pavilion and suggesting the possibility of a joint exhibition of the two Koreas to the mayor.

Jeon Soo-cheon won the Special Award in 1995, Kang Ik-joong in 1997, and Lee Bul in 1999.
The 2014 Venice Biennale Exhibition of Korean Pavilion <Five Senses on the Korean Peninsula > won the Golden Lion, the highest honor among 65 national museums (commissioner: Cho Min-seok)
Lim Heung-soon won the Silver Lion Award at the 2015 Venice Biennale Art Exhibition for the first Korean artist to win this exhibition.
