머렐 운동화는 작가가 2008~2010년 사이에 신었던 운동화로, 곧 버려지게 될 운동화에 얽혀있는 기억과 시간의 층위들을 기록하고 아카이빙 하기 위해 대상인 운동화를 의인화하여 동화적 상상으로 재현해내고 있다. 이 작품은 작가가 현재 진행중인 ‘선물’이라는 비디오 아카이브 프로젝트의 일부이기도 하다.
The artist wore this pair of Merrell sneakers between 2008 and 2010. In this work, he recorded the layer of memories and time associated with them. Personified and seen as the object to be archived, the story of the Merrell sneakers is unfolded in fairytale-like imagination. Also, this is part of the video archive project that the artist is conducting entitled “Gift”.
