김용호는 전통적 기법의 정지 이미지인 명화와 매체예술로 대표되는 비디오 동영상을 한 화면에 동시에 사용함으로써, 정지된 이미지 보다는 움직이는 사물에 민감하게 반응하는 우리의 응시적 욕망을 드러내고자 한다. 돋보기 구멍은 정지된 이미지 바깥의 새로운 가상의 공간을 보여주며, 마치 외부를 비추는 ‘창’과 같은 역할을 한다. 이곳은 닫힌 공간에서 열린 공간으로 연결되는 통로이자, 현재라는 시점에서 더 나아가 새로운 세계를 탐구하기 위한 작가의 열망으로 채워져 있는 공간이기도 하다.

Kim Yongho attempts to show that our desire to gaze responds sharply to moving objects, rather than standstill images, by capturing a static painting and a video clip on the same screen. The spot seen through the magnifying glass represents another virtual space outside the static image and serves as a window to the outside world. It is a space that serves as a bridge between a closed space and an open space and is charged with the artist’s aspiration to explore a new world.
