“L박사의 밀실”은 L박사가 밀실에서 작가의 복제 드로잉들을 고문하고 죽이는 가학적인 과정을 위트있게 그려낸 한편의 입체 드로잉 극이다. 이영민은 가느다란 선으로만 그려진 평면회화에 불과한 드로잉들의 윤곽을 오려내고 그 틈에 캔 뚜껑, 고무줄, 빨대 등 각종 오브제를 삽입함으로써 고통에 몸부림치는 생생한 3차원의 입체 드로잉을 만들어낸다. “L박사의 밀실”은 ‘Liar’의 이니셜을 딴 L박사라는 일차적인 자아와 보여지고 있는 ‘나’인 또 다른 자아 즉, 분열된 자아들의 대결이다. L박사는 예술가이자 창조자인 일차적인 자아와는 달리 보여지는 자아 즉, 평가받아야 하는 예술가로서의 자아가 갖는 부담감 때문에 끊임없이 자기를 괴롭히고 죽이는 작가의 초상이기도 하다.

“The Cube of Dr. L.” is a 3-D drawing that humorously depicts Dr. L.’s sadistic torture and murder of the drawings he has created. Lee Youngmin has created 3D drawings that squirm around in agony by cutting out plain drawings and filling them with various objects, such as can lids, rubber bands and straws. “The Cube of Dr. L.” is the primary self, Dr. L. whose full name is ‘Liar’, in confrontation with his other selves. Dr. L. is the representation of the artist and creator, who constantly tortures and kills himself with the burden of being evaluated by his viewers.
