“천식”은 반복적으로 돌아가는 세탁기와 역시 반복되는 기침소리로 이루어 진다. 흔히 여자들의 장소에 자리하거나 여자들의 물건이 되기 쉬운 세탁기는 마치 여자의 몸처럼 부여된 메커니즘을 따르고 있지만, 의미나 표상을 담지 하지 않는 고통스럽도록 신경질적인 기침소리만이 세탁기의 움직임에 끼어든다.

“Asthma” is composed of an endlessly running laundry machine and the repeated sounds of coughing. Normally a laundry machine is belonged to the feminine space and follows the mechanism that is imposed to the female body; however, hysterical sounds of coughing separated from any meaning and symbol intervene in the movement of a laundry machine.

간밤의 여행자

“간밤의 여행자”는 의미를 전달하려는 이야기의 구조를 고수한다. 그렇지만 이 이야기들이 무엇을 지시하고 재현해 내고 있는지 구체적인 표상을 등장시키지는 않는다. 작가는 고도 성장한 도시 한 켠에 남겨진 미개발된 거리를 따라다니지만, 그 시선의 주체는 프레임 밖에 남겨져 있으므로 누구의 시선인지를 분간해 내기는 쉽지 않다. 밤이라는 시간의 어둠, 기묘한 효과음, 그리고 내레이션을 통해 한 여자의 죽음과 ‘유령’이라는 육신 없는 존재를 느낄 뿐이다.

“The Last Night Traveler” has a narrative in order to deliver a specific meaning. However, the story lacks of a specific symbol for what is represented and what is indicated. Even though the artist wonder around the street left from the rapid urban development, it is not easy to identify whose perspectives lead the camera. Only through the darkness of night, the strange sound effects and the narration, one can get a grip with the death of one woman and a ‘ghost’ without the flesh.
