한강에 누워

“한강에 누워”는 하나의 이야기가 두 가지 다른 방식으로 전개되었던 작업이다. 돈을 벌지 않는 남녀가 한강 주변에서 연애를 하다가 겨울이 다가오자 갈 곳이 없어 어쩔 수 없이 헤어지게 되었다는 이야기를 바탕으로 그 과정을 기록하듯 드로잉 작업이 2003년 완성되었다. 최근 이 작업은 비디오 영상편지로 다시 만들어졌는데, 헤어진 연인에게 한강의 곳곳에 무엇을 깔거나 간단한 재료로 가려서 만든 사적인 공간을 보여주며 이제 편히 앉고 따뜻하게 눕게 해주겠으니 한강에서 다시 만나자는 내용을 담고 있다. 음악은 이주요가 전달한 간단한 메모를 바탕으로 뮤지션이며 퍼포머인 데이빗 마이클 디그레고리오가 작곡하고 노래로 불렀다.

Lie on the Han River

“Lie on the Han River” is a story that is developed into two different directions. A drawing was completed in 2003 based on a story that a couple, both unemployed, was meeting and dating each other around Han River, and then break up since winter has comes up. This work was re-made into a moving-image correspondence, which shows Jewyo Rhii prepared private spaces with rugs, some small decorations or walls everywhere along the Han River for the left boy friend to sit and lie comfortably once again. The music is composed and sung by David Michael DiGregorio, based on the memo of Jewyo Rhii.
