80년대 생인 작가는 90년대 초 한국에서 방영된 수많은 더빙 판 외화들을 통해 ‘서양’을 접했다고 고백한다. 그녀의 ‘서양’에 대한 이미지는 미국과 유럽 국가간의 구별도 존재하지 않는 채 하나의 이미지로 통합되어 있었다. 이 작업은 작가가 대학을 졸업할 즈음, 이러한 성장배경과 자신의 서양에 대한 시각을 바탕으로 제작된 것이다. 작가는 우연히 발견한 엽서집의 이미지를 이용해서 허구의 로맨스 이야기를 만들어 내고 있는데, 다양한 장소에서 촬영된 엽서의 이미지들은 텍스트에 의해 재조합되며 이야기는 작업 전편에 관찰자 시점으로 흘러가고 있다.

The artist, who was born in 1980s, confessed that she first became aware of the ‘West’ through a number of dubbed foreign movies on TV in the early 1990s. To her perception, the U.S. and the European nations are integrated as just one image without any discrimination. This image made when she graduated from university, and based on her perception of the imaginary West she had at that time. She wrote a fictitious romance story using the images of a postcard collection she happened to find. The images of the postcards photographed at various places are re-compounded by the texts and the story is flowing from the viewpoint of an observer through the whole process.
